What to do after dropping camera in water?

My camera fell in water yesterday (Sony A6400 in sea water). I dried the exterior and then gave it a blow with a hair dryer. Today I tried turning it on and it is as if various buttons are being pressed: it is scrolling between different settings.

Although I am not sure if certain buttons are being activated as it is happening too fast to tell. It isn't useable in any way, but maybe it at least turning on is a good sign.

I plan to send it to Sony when I get back to the UK later in the year, but is there anything else I could do for now which could help?

Googling it brings up talk of putting it in a bag of rice for a couple of days (or longer), but I am unsure if it is worth doing that now?

Any other advice? I am nowhere near a service center so maybe I should open it up and try cleaning and drying the inside? I have no experience opening electroincs up.
