Re: M50 MKii, EF-M Lenses and Backpacking

I do a lot of backpacking and I use my M50 as my travel camera.

I carry something very similar to this, but a bit smaller and squarer.

I put this inside a larger messenger style bag, I have instant access to my camera and its not hidden behind me where thieves can potentially get to it. It also looks fashionable, and not like a camera bag for stealth.

I carabiner it closed as well most of the time, to stop people dipping it.

My travel kit when i go away is :

M50 body

2 spare batteries

18-55 kit

55-250mm zoom

35mm f2 EF (on speedbooster for 35mm street photography, 55mm on adapter for portrait)

Extension tubes

10 stop ND filter

Everything above fits into the camera bag, put in the larger messenger bag. I don't carry all the stuff below all the time.

Mini tripod

USB Charger + Powerbank

Mini godox flash with diffuser

This gives me a full system reach from 27-400mm, and the ability to shoot macro, astro, street, portrait, action and in low light and to recharge the batteries in the field if required.

I am also looking at taking the kenko teleextender along in future., which can push the zoom above to 560mm, at the cost of some sharpness.

All of the above is very capable and lovely and cheap, the most expensive part is the camera body (2nd hand) and the 35mm f2. I was considering upgrading it to the Sigma ART 30mm DG, as this is a very nice lens and cheaper 2nd hand than the Canon 35mm EF f2.
