Did you ever find the answer? I'm researching the answer now too. The information on the dual fisheye lens online is stale, ambiguous, and unhelpful.

What part is stale or ambiguous? Canon only lists R5 and R5C as compatible cameras wherever they list it

Example, see here: https://store.hk.canon/english/rf5-2mm-f-2-8l-dual-fisheye.html

That lens cuts resolution massively, because it captures 2 frames side by side (I presume that's 1/4 pixels per frame?)

Actually not quite as bad as that when you account for this being circular fisheye. You can fit one 24 mm circle inside a 24x36 frame, or two 18 mm circles side by side (in reality both are just slightly smaller but the result is basically the same). The resolution is therefore 18/24 = 75% linear, or (18/24)^2 = 9/16 = 56% if you prefer to use the pixel count.

and VR software demands pixels to work on. R5 is the only high enough resolution camera they have today

So even if it works with R6, it may not be usable (which is probably why they omit in compatibility)

You also need special software subscription to work with what you shoot with this lens

You can also contact Canon and get a straight answer. This lens needs their support to work anyways
