I have a similar bracket from SmallRig on my R5. Almost all L-brackets have the same problem. If the cutout were any larger it would not be possible to attach it securely to the tripod when using the camera in portrait orientation.

The thing is the SmallRig L-bracket for R5 does have the cutout large enough not to block flipping the screen to the left. No issues with attaching typical clamps either.

But you can't rotate the panel when it is flipped out and there is a danger if you try of scratching the panel.  It's the same problem with all the brackets that have this particular design.  Nevertheless, I prefer it to the ProMeidaGear bracket because it's not as bulky.  It's great value for the cost.
