OK, I've been shooting just a ton with mirrorless (both EOS M and R) as it's evolved over the years, and I truly love both systems! One thing that's become patently clear to me is that each camera (and line) has its particular strengths, and having one doesn't automatically obsolete the other!
For those here who are disappointed with the M System I have a little hard-earned advice:
Maximize the capabilities of your current kit with what's already available to you, Before you go jumping ship and spending more money.
IMHO that starts with shooting RAW and upgrading your noise reduction to DxO Photolab if you already haven't. You'll easily gain 2 stops from this move alone.
Move up to the most capable M body in the system. The M6ii can give you even higher ISO abilities, better IQ, better autofocus, and more capability.
Get the lenses that will maximize your keeper rates and IQ. Lots of examples have been posted here over the years. EF-M is strong here, especially if you shoot primes.
These steps will truly increase the longevity of the M System, and I expect to continue to shoot mine for years to come, even though I also have the R System.
Happy shooting!

Sage advice on maximizing use of the very capable EOS M system.
Like many I like to look to future needs, and also honestly can say I'm somewhat 'disappointed' with the road Canon has taken, it does leave many of us in the lurch who don't want to move to the considerably more expensive R system. At the same time I understand the photo market has become a difficult one and Canon has been forced to make some tough choices to continue in a dwindling competitive market.
I'd love to 'move up' at some point to something like the R7, with IBIS and better video capabilities -- but many reasonably-priced lenses I use often aren't available in the same price range --- 22mm f2, 32mm f1.4, 16mm f1.4, 12mm f2, 9mm f2.8. All those I've purchased either refurb or secondhand and paid 50-75% of the already reasonable retail prices.
At the end of the day the Canon M6 Mark II plus DxO DeepPRIME is an amazing combination --- and with the very full set of lenses I have now, I have capabilities that pro systems were needed for as recently as 3 years ago, keeping in mind that the M6ii is not a pro-quality weather-sealed body, nor are the lenses pro quality in build (although many are pro quality optically which for me is what really counts).
As an 'enthusiast' I've made the decision to stick with EOS M for at least 2-3 more years, and 'stocked up' on M6ii bodies (I have one now well-used for 2 years with high shutter count, and 2 more refurbs bought within the last year).
If Canon releases the 'rumored' RF-S 11-22 lens similar to the EF-M version, and another lens such as a 22mm f2 or 32mm f2 it would help push me towards RF-S.
At the telephoto end I already have EF-S 55-250 IS STM and a good 1.5x teleconverter, Roki 135mm f2, and Siggy 150-600 C lenses that could be used on either system with adapter. It'd be a no-brainer to switch from the EF-M 18-150 to the RF-S 18-150. If they released more RF-S lenses AND came out with a crop R body with the M6ii feature set and size, at a price point closer to the M6ii price point, it'd be hard for me not to start to move to Canon R.
but being blocked out of the siggy's and a $1K IBIS body will continue to make me yawn
