Re: New Canon Neural Network Image Processing Tool 1.0

** HONEST FEEDBACK AFTER USAGE ++ HOW TO **
I opted for this service but using image.cloud which restricts to 80 images / month.
The way to get it is - one needs to download their app in the phone (image.cloud) and then using the app and the camera connect to each other. In parallel - you purchase the subscription for cloud processing (1 month trial).
Here it gets a bit convoluted. One needs to go to main menu - playback and then tab #3 "Cloud RAW Image Processing". Select images to process and camera uploads. [I was initially trying to find it in Menu -> Communications -> Upload to image.canon]. Also, I disabled automatic upload so that only those I want to process I send to cloud.
At this point I get an email within 15 min that Canon received my request and within 30 minutes get 2nd. email -> processed.
Critical to note: A Canon ID is required, Cloud processing is limited to 80 images/month but one can buy additional slots, photos remain for a month so auto download is recommended into PC or connect the cloud to auto upload into few services they offer connectivity, etc.
1 sad and bad detail and probably why I will not continue is I could not find a way to ask for neural processing of specific photos other than from the camera! This poses a huge problem for me since the LCD screen and the navigation makes it very cumbersome to decide which photos to send for processing. I have SFTP based auto download into my NAS drive so I use that 1st. to decide and mark which ones and then go back to camera to mark those and send for processing.
In terms of output:
1. I used LR (Trial) and Capture One (Trial) and DPP on a specific photo.
2. Applied neural on the same photo.
3. All starting from pure RAW
I can safely conclude neural did an amazing job. No noise, DLO, etc. all good. Small modifications might be required but if something can do what I do manually automatically and do it good - I'm sold.
The photo I selected was a HIGH ISO dark photo - purposefully.
I repeated this but with a portrait and finally repeated with HDR PQ enabled photo and also a Dual Pixel enabled photo. All of them were successfully processed. That surprised me since I read somewhere Dual Pixel RAW not supported!
I'm sold.
Note: The reason I opted for cloud is because otherwise one needs a relatively powerful PC to do it locally. Also note: this service is currently available only to a small subset of cameras.
