In my 16 years of shooting APS-C side be side with FF, for sports, landscapes, and architecture I have determined that a 33% increase in MP is very significant. While the 100% changes that I have managed to employ have provided "exponential" increases in IQ, I would not underestimate the difference between the R10 and R7/90D/M6II.

it's 1.15X - best case in actual resolution increase linearly - e.g. the size one can enlarge on's image by. If Canon sold a 1.15X TC, how many would buy it? And that assuming everything perfect technique wise and no subject movement effects - and no diffraction effect, no atmospheric haze all of which leads to diminishing returns. The R10 and R7 have also had improvements (just slight) over past cameras to it seems. I own both the M6II and R10 with the same 2 sensors the OP asks about with 90D- honestly there is a slight difference but nothing earth shattering.

Now yes when I used to own a 13MP 5D classic versus a 18MP 7D then yes a big difference with "pixels per bird" when cropping the 5D - so don't disagree with crop vs low MP FF observations.

A comparison which is relevant for me is between my R5 and R7 - and here the difference in linear pixels per bird is 1.4x, which is very significant. But 1.15x - not in the same bracket.
