R5 with Sigma 150-600mm Report
5

I recently bought a Canon R5 and was anxious to try it out with my existing Sigma 150-600mm C lens.

I had head there were some issues with focus pulsing on this lens with the R5, so I tried the lens and camera settings that Duade Patted demonstrated on his channel.  (That videos is posed here is a few places).

On thing to point out that Duade got wrong.  In his video, when going through the Sigma settings via the Dock, he suggests leaving the "focus limiter" settings alone in the custom settings because, he state that the focus limiter can be sen on the lens itself.  This, I discovered, is not true.  If you are using either the C1 or C2 custom settings, the focus limiter switch is inoperative (per the Sigma lens manual).

So - what I did was to set all the settings Duade suggested, but for C1 I went ahead and set the focus limiter for 10-infinity meters, but for the C2, I set it all the same but with focus limiter set at Full.

This image (American Kestrel) was shot with this combo at 600m hand held (yes, I did a sky replacement).

I was very happy with the IQ even though this image is heavily cropped.

Conclusion: With Duade Paton's settings I found this combination worked very well.  I didn't have any issues with focus pulsing and eye detection seemed to work well.
