Duly noted and this is the heart of the thread.

I agree with you on the difficulties of foot mobile focus and duly noted it earlier yet where the subject is stationary it is like the 1 iron - it will yield incredible shots the 24 - 105 cannot but if we are sent to the desert island and asked to take 1 lens only - I am with you and would go zoom 24 - 105 version 1

Like the 1 iron, the 135 has way  utility than a 5 iron to use a golf analogy.

Although the 135 sees the less action than my other glass - the thought of selling it freaks me unduly.

I never swap lenses outside of home - too phobic on my sensor dust bunnies - now grown to hares.

Prime? Go flat field 24 mm for a grizzly bear - no distortion he should frame well.
