OK I've been doing more mulling over. What are your thought's on a Canon g5x Mkii? Other than that I feel I'm inclined towards the X-E4. I am not excited about the price of the latter though. Sizewise with a 18mm I think the X-e4 is much the same than the x100v - what do you think?

I’ve had the Mk1 versions of the G7X and the G5X (which are largely the same camera). On paper, excellent cameras. In reality, I failed to gel with G7X and I genuinely had to suppress the urge to throw the G5X in the river. I could write a list of usability issues as long as my arm, ranging from mild annoyances to infuriatingly  bizarre design decisions that actually get in the way of taking photos. I found the lens was poor at the wide end (soft in the corners with lots of CA—though at the long end it was very good) and the AF was pretty ropey (made worse by some excruciatingly bad usability issues that prevented any ability to use MF as a workaround in the quite predictable situations when AF never worked). In short, the G5X in particular was one of the cameras I’ve hated more than any other, though I haven’t tried the MkII (obviously because I have no desire to 😉).
