I don't plan to buy a new camera now. Or tomorrow.

If you did, the M6 Mark II is simply spectacular.

and you've shown these many times with your sports pics

To tell you the truth, I do enjoy shooting with my little M6ii waaay more than with any of the high-caliber stuff I own. If I’m shooting for myself, I pick the M6ii whenever I can!

Chris at DPReview rated the m6II with available lenses his top pick for a used camera value setup

And WE (on this Forum) also know how darn capable it really is!

one should evaluate imo - selling everything and starting again with m6II + 32 + 11-22 + 56 + dxo pl6

One could not speak truer words!

- forget about 2-4 years - this stuff is generational

…until they pry it from my cold dead hands! 😵

I'm going to sell my crop stuff. No M6II, 32mm, 11-22mm anymore for me.

well, smaller goes out the window for you

but the first time we interacted you were using siggy 18-35 and 50-100 on m50 and I'm thinking this young fella doesn't care about small size and weight, and lower costs, but is looking for speed and IQ when photographing fast moving kids

actually, being involved in high level action shooting in my younger years, your quests impressed me

I will replace the ef-m 32mm f/1.4 with the FE Samyang 45mm f/1.8 or 50mm f/2.5 G-master

you do love that 50 mm fov - me too

.But I need to find a financial fix to benefit from the current rebate for that 50mm f/1.2 GM first, as that's priority number one.

wowsers, you are getting the best of the best

Tonight I'm going to search my attic to see if I can find my MC-11 and update it if needed.

I remember when you bought it for the 6600 that you returned

I'm done with Canon.

to clarify - as I understand it, you'll keep your R5, and some lenses, but all purchases from here on out will be for the sony

If I need more than one (some need three...) cameras anyway to shoot the glass I want the second one doesn't have to be a Canon....

third party glass rules for you, so I understand, RF locked out 3rd party

M is compact, but no IBIS

true, but the 11-22 has IS and I've got great use of 32 f1.4 without IS

and no R5 style subject tracking.

as R2 says, spot focus and manual servo tracking rocks - the old fashion way

R7 has IBIS and close to R5-style subject tracking, but no 32mm f/1.4 USM.

yes, RF-s glass is lacking - no R7 or R10 for me

The R full frame cameras have IBIS, but no fast focusing 50 or 85mm primes at all regardless your needs for compactness, shallow DOF, or whatsoever.

I would have liked to try the RF 50 f1.2 you rented by tracking the old fashioned way

For those who need the form factor of the M6II admittedly Sony made the huge mistake to leave out a front dial from the A7C, and that's a no go.

yes, old ergonomics was a big mistake

And yes, the front dial of the A7IV isn't placed very well, and it turns a bit stiff. But it's good enough for me.

So got the A7IV (new, 5 year warranty, only 2450 euro).

Wowsers!  Congrats Storm!

Now I can set dual prime setups and the 45mm f/1.8 Samyang or 50mm f/2.5 G-master on the Sony and either wide angle (EF 28mm f/2.8 IS USM) or telephoto option (RF 85mm f/2.0 IS stm) on the R5 can be easily compact enough for me.

two bodies, three primes makes some sense to me - in my case, in the long run I'd like to see a great FF for Canon in an APS-c body to use my RF 24-105 F4L and then get the pop can sized RF 70-200 F4L and maybe the Rf 14-35 F4L - the trinity of F4L's and supplement them with primes.  I can estimate though that the 32 f1.4 on m6II will be my 50 fov prime

I like your thinking though, to use multiple bodies vs trying to fit everything into a locked down RF glass house ...

hope you continue to interact and post over here

Happy New Year!
