A good discussion could be had regarding all three of the above (because the ramifications are important), as long as it’s not “quashed” by any particular member [ahem].

yep, could have been a good learning on all things picture style, but the discussion was squashed as you said

Confused. Squashed by who, me, because I chose an answer?

not you

Feel free to discuss, I'm still reading this thread because I'm a newb and want to learn.

Following this and the Histogram at right or center? thread in the Beginners Questions forum.

interesting thread - yes indeed, proper exposures are critical

I use to use +2/3 ETTR when I had dslr's in high iso situations

now with mirrorless I use exposure simulation with raw and std picture style to judge on my back screen my exposure and prevent as much clipping (loss of information) as I can

Way easier to do blown out highlights too ?

yep, with intentional plan to do so

Nothing wrong with that if that is what you want ?

seeing what you want before you hit the shutter has made my exposure control far greater than any dslr I ever owned

The scene in the viewfinder can be what you want with a way wrong looking histogram ?

particularly in a backlit situation when you want to intentionally blow out the highlights to bring up the exposure of the subject
