Now do yourself a favor, and get a Kaiser 58 mm lens cap to cover the lens when not shooting or have it in a pocket or bag - or even in dusty wind conditions.
It's a good snug fit, is plastic so it won't mark the camera, and the camera will shut down without harm if you forget to take it off when  you turn the G5X on.
 I put one on as soon as I got my 5X .
