Hello all,

I have been trying to figure out why my X-T20 will not trigger the hot shoe flash. I know that the flash (EF-X8) works on my X-T1, so it's not the flash.

Any suggestions?

(And yes, I tried searching for a past thread first)

Thanks!

After mounting the flash, do options in the camera's flash menu become available (Not grayed out)?

Morris

Hello Morris,

Once the flash is mounted, the only flash menu options not greyed out are Red Eye Removal and TTL-Lock Mode.

Flash Function Setting, LED Light Setting, Master Setting, and CH Setting all remain greyed out.

Correction to my previous post: the X-T20 does not have the contact for providing power to the EF-X8 flash. Check the difference between your X-T20 and X-T1 hotshoes.

This is the answer 👍

There are 5 points of contact on the X-T1, but only 3 on the X-T20.

I also confirmed by looking at the compatibility list for this little flash on Fuji's website, and it looks like any camera that comes with a built in flash is not compatible, which makes sense.

I was planning on purchasing a Godox flash to do a little macro photography, but was thinking I had an issue with the hotshoe.

Thanks for the help guys!
