Hi Jim Mij, would you please explain exactly how you did this; I don't understand this method. I've been using focus bracketing & Ulanzi LED lights. Thank you.

Hi Erika

As you know focus stacking with m6ii does not support flash, hence you need natural light or a substitutes such as led etc, or long exposures, both of who mean your likely to be using a tripod

I needed flash as the light was terrible,  and while that gave me single shot or at a stretch a few shots, I was looking for other options

I remembered that the canon phone app allows you to alter the focus from the phone, there is an icon on the right hand side that looks like ()

when you press that you get options to move focus in small medium and large jumps

<<<   <<  <    >   >>   >>>

you can tap the screen where you want focus, double tap to zoom in, and then use the arrow keys to move focus in or out

I was able to choose my initial focus point, take an picture, and then use the >> key to nudge focus further into the image and take another picture, repeat that till your stack is complete.

process the images as usual in dpp or helicon etc

Its a tad slow, but its analogous to using a manual focus rail

It also means i wasn't touching / or nudging the camera between shots

have fun…

Jim
