RF 24-70 alternatives to replace EF 24-70

I have been using my R5 happily with my adapted EF lenses for a couple years. But my workhorse, the EF 24-70 f/4 L, has started giving an Err 01 error, and is clearly not reliably stopping down the diaphragm when longer focal lengths are used. This almost certainly means a problem with an internal ribbon cable and an expensive trip to Canon repair.

Before I do that I'm considering alternatives, including replacing it with an equivalent RF lens. I could, of course, get the RF 24-70 F/2.8 L. But I am primarily a landscape photographer and don't need the f/2.8 and would prefer a smaller and lighter version. The RF 24-105 f/4 L fits that bill, but I fear it would not give the image quality I'm used to with my EF 24-70 f/4. I'm not familiar with third party lenses in that range, but they would just be adapted EF versions anyway.

I'd appreciate any thoughts, recommendations, or suggested alternatives. Would you suggest biting the bulled and getting the RF 24-70 f/2.8? Would the RF 24-105 L be satisfactory? Or should I just pay whatever it costs to repair the EF 24-70?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Dave
