Things I know:

- My R10 isn't weather sealed, nor are my lenses.

- I live in New England, temps regularly are between ~0-32f (-15-0c) down to ~-10f(-20c)

- The spec sheet says the camera's operating temperature is from 32f - 104f. This is conservative.

- I should keep my lenses in ziploc bags during temperature transitions from room/car temp to outdoor temp.

Things I don't know:

- How much of a lie the specified operating temperature range is from the spec sheet

- How quickly I should let my lenses cool down or warm up

- Whether I need to also do some ziploc action with my camera body

- Is the R10 made of a cold tolerant plastic, or is it going to get brittle?

I have my starter camera, a Rebel T7 that I could do some experiments with but all things being equal I'd rather not unnecessarily smoke that camera if you folks have some advice.

Thanks,

- Jas

Outdoor humidity in your New England winter conditions is usually very low.  Try to keep all your gear cool (not in a heated house or vehicle).  The plastic won't get brittle, and is less affected by temperature than metal.  The most likely problem is that battery life will be affected adversely, so keep batteries warm (inside pocket).  I don't have an R10, but I have used my earlier 80D in -20C conditions in the mountains with no issues whatsoever.
