I sometimes bring my G5XII on trips. It has a 1" stacked CMOS sensor and it will fit in my coat pocket. The G5XII has a remote trigger and it is better than my phone that I always have for backup.
I have the G9XII, my super old and trusty RX100M3, and RX100M7 for pocket carries depending on the situation. They are great. But with the R7 I am usually trying to get some higher quality memories for specific events, which makes the bulk and weight of heavier lenses worth it, to some degree. I think? LOL!
For highest quality shoots carry the necessary weight of my R5 and f2.8 lens trinity with some high quality primes as appropriate for "higher quality memories for specific events". I have to pack carefully as the weight can important for some high quality event travel.
