Is this a bad field curvature? How can I make the most out of it?

Hello. Since I used a small sensor P&S, the images show lots of DoF. Maybe I need to test again, with the camera at a lower height. As I zoom in, I get better results (full tele is more "straight").

"Wide" zoom position

Full telephoto

Your wide shot is showing quite pronounced tilt, more so than curvature. Looking at the distant line of foliage, it's much sharper on the left than the right. The tele shot looks much better, as you say. It may not always be the same though - you might find it varies between shots even at the same focal length.

Nothing out of the ordinary for a tiny zoom lens on an early compact. In many cases it won't matter, but stopping down to f4 or 5.6 should increase depth of field to the extent that everything will be in focus in many cases. I wouldn't go much smaller than f/5.6 though as you'll start to get diffraction.

Yes. I think f/5 is the max for wide, after that it becomes soft. Thank you
