Wishes for the next x100.
As a x100 user, I was interested in upgrading to the V but due to its scarcity as new and the prices as used (sometimes higher than new), I think I’ll wait for the VI (I spent already too much time trying to find a good used V (lots of scams here).
Apart from what is often discussed and for what i have no clue (Ibis, next sensor, better AF, true weather sealing…) and some issues (are those fixed?) from the early days of the X100V (overheating, noisy motor,…), i would like to add two things to the wish list:
- i think Fuji could make a film simulation, that could be named « vintage black ad white ». The B&W simulations existing seem to me either too grey and flat, either too « metallic », lacking the beauty and the balance we see in prints from the greats.
- as phones tend to steal from cameras, why couldn’t cameras steal a bit from phones? I am thinking of sort of « touch-id » or «face-id », or even just a secret code. It could work on a daily basis: at the start of the day, we unlock the camera and shoot. If the camera is stolen, it could be used for just the rest of the day and would be impossible to use afterwards. Wouldn’t it be useful?
Excuse me if it looks irrevelant.
- f/ 1.4 (even if a slightly larger lens this would be worth the compromise IMO)
- IBIS (goes without saying)
- New battery
- Slightly larger grip (the larger battery size should allow for a better hand hold on the front-right of the camera body, but the increase should be kept to a minimum to preserve the sleek look)
- Remove the Optical Viewfinder (this will be controversial for a minority of X100 owners, but as a X100 owner myself for 6 years and having watched countless reviews, 95% of people use EVF exclusively - this could allow extra cost/space for an upgraded EVF which would be a much better shooting experience for the vast majority of users)
