Here is the Photographic Dynamic Range (PDR) :

Also shown is the Canon EOS R6 and Electronic Shutter (ES).

Revised to remove NR indicators for ES

that e-shutter for DR sucks on R6II

Even my M6II with e-shutter uses 14 bit and has better DR

maybe at base iso, but it's not that great to be honest. Rather have that R6 (II) since that still gives you the option to use max dr with a mechanical shutter

sure

but they handled the issue with the R3 by keeping e-shutter at 14 bit

https://www.photonstophotos.net/Charts/PDR.htm#Canon%20EOS%20M6%20Mark%20II,Canon%20EOS%20R3,Canon%20EOS%20R3(ES),Canon%20EOS%20R6%20Mark%20II,Canon%20EOS%20R6%20Mark%20II(ES)

yes true. A reason I'm still eyeballing an R3 although I already have two R5's.. (or wait until a possible R1 comes?)

I have to believe the R1 will be the ultimate and use a 14 bit e-shutter with high DR and also have high mpxl -- to be both a high mpxl landscape camera and a premiere pj action camera - an all-in-one camera

the R6II is fine for acton pj, but for scapes, Canon needs to compete with A7R5 with a 1 model

with two R5's, I'd wait for R1
