I usually stay away from these super zoom lenses, but since it is currently the better option out of the only two true native lenses available I went ahead and got it as a kit with the R10.

It turned out to be a good decision since it is has been better than expected, perhaps I got lucky with a good copy, who knows.
I compared it with almost all my other lenses where they share same focal length and I was surprised how sharp it is for such a long FL range, (with or without lens corrections).
It works best as a general purpose lens in good light, it is convenient, fun and light weight, it is relatively compact for what it does, but a bit longish compared to primes, probably twice as long as the other kit lens, so I wouldn't call it ultra portable.
But it focus fast, accurately and is very quiet, the OIS also works great.

One of my biggest surprises was that it almost matches the same resolving power as my Panasonic P&S superzoom FZ1000 at 400eqv vs this lens 240eqv ! mostly due to the sensor differences but still a great performance with bad lighting.

For landscape and cityscape might be narrow at 18mm (29mm eqv) but you already knew this. If this lens started at 15mm, instead of 18, it would be perfect IMO.

So, it is a very good lens if you can live with its limitations, mainly small apertures and not being wide enough at the wide end.

I have plenty bigger heavier and more expensive lenses that might be used. I also bought the R7 with the 17-150 zoom to get quick June 20 delivery by buying an R7 kit rather than the body only product.

I did not expect this much performance from the 17-150 and was amazed with the performance. Much like the RF 24-240 this RF-S lens was very good a superzoom. These new RF mount lenses are impressive.

Is also use the EF-S 10-18mm with R7 for an ultrawide lens. It is has been small, light and great too as a companion to the RF-S 18-150 to get light and handy high quality coverage from 10-150mm FL. Both lenses are excellent for traveling and work well for outside photographic lighting. I have the compact brighter 16,24, 35, 50 primes but the darker zooms are much easier to use except indoors.
