Yes, I think it's irrelevant...because if you look at the samples I posted, the same shooting geometry and subjects, only with different light, doesn't show the artifact. Also note that the light is always indirect; the room is "the lens hood", and ensures no direct light falling on the lens; the house wall is "the hood" for the brighter lit images, again ensuring no direct light hitting the subjects.

I've got lots of samples like that, as the birds have been extremely fun in that feeder this month.
