I see the purple circle

Perhaps it has self-corrected, or maybe it's an eye defect as I don't see a purple dot any of the three images?

I see it.  The purple circle is pretty faint in one of the images, less so in another and pretty obvious in the third.

Ok, here's my guess.  It's a reflection off the rear element of the lens.  It only occurs sometimes because the light has to be right and the zoom position also has to be right.

This purple rear element reflection was quite common in the early days of digital, but has been pretty much corrected in modern lenses, mainly by new anti-reflection coatings on the newer lenses.  In fact this is the first I have heard of it on a new "digital" lens.

I am also certainly open to other explanations.
