Over the 6 years I've had the K1 I've been able to do available light photography which just wasn't possible with film.

Absolutely. The first digital camera I ever owned (an Olympus C-5050Z) was already better at capturing low-available-light shots than my SLR, and things have gotten orders-of-magnitude better since then.

It just astounds me that anyone would want to trade that off for some supposed look that you could probably achieve as easily with a digital profile preset. A new camera should add to my capabilities, not take shots off the table.

I will admit to two pre-digital capabilities I wish I had: manual split-prism focusing and the easy DoF preview button. But I  can't say I'd give up AF for them, nor can I think of any other feature I miss.

In general, nostalgia for SLRs seems a lot like nostalgia for hand-crank calculating machines. We have computers now, and we're better off for it.

A new film Pentax? Not interested.
