Even Nikon has stopped producing their "Masterpiece" F6 in the end of 2020. What can Pentax offer as a better or more successful camera than a F6?

The F6 was a large and heavy pro SLR. The new Pentax camera most likely will be "something completely different" – smaller, lighter and more elegant to appeal to wealthy hobbyists who prefer an SLR to a rangefinder and aren't enamored with the red circle.

Didn't they say they'd start with a compact?

Sheesh, lomography.com has been staying in business selling $75 to $500 cameras for quite a while. I sold a broken Yashica T4 last year for $300+.

There are quite a few people buying out there in this category. It's kind of funny that Pentax's new SLR, if they make one, would compete with some of the still going K1000's out there.

The thing is the young folks using these also like Instax and Polaroid and Dianas and aren't too worried about the pixelpeepish sharpness and such the old people here are. The user experience and retro thing is a feature, not a bug.
