It depends on where you are at.   If you are under the basket to one side, you can shoot the entire game with one of the faster 35mms (effective 50mm) with some cropping but you will probably want something to cover the defense on the other side unless you want to alternate what you cover during the game and even then it can be hard to get faces on defense unless you are at the opposite end.  The 40-150mm is the option but f/2.8 at 1/1000 can be an issue in darker gyms.   If you are somewhere up top and middle of court with good mobility, the 200mm f/2 could be fantastic based on the size of the gym. Depending on budget vs. scope of images you need, I would try to field two bodies, one with a fast prime for under the basket, or other court level positions and the 40-150mm or 200mm f/2 to grab defense shots down the court.
