When I read this and watched the video, I had to look in my calendar. Is it April 1:st today? And after seeing that it's December, I checked the link again to see if it was a humourus fake homepage. No!

So is this sophisticated self irony from Ricoh/Pentax side? "If they say we're lagging behind with our sticking with ovf's, let's give them something to buzz about!"

I've got a couple of my film Pentaxes in a display cabinet, kept for nostalgic reasons. Haven't used any of them since I bought my first DSLR, a *istDS in 2005. If Ricoh should try to sell me a new one made for film, I'd just shake my head and walk away.

But they stirred up some dust, they sure did. 🤣

I agree.

We all  (most?) have quality, fully functional film cameras sitting in cabinets or drawers or on display.

Almost none of them are being used, and for many good reasons.

My own:

I don't want to be constantly buying film, and getting it to some place to develop, and picking it up again. Is there a way to do this on-line?

I don't want to be thinking of developing costs - it would greatly hinder the number of photos I would take.

I don't want the 'excitement' of wondering if I blew the chance at documenting an important memory.  I want to be able to see what I have just taken a photo of, and if possible make changes and take a new shot.

Maybe others here would have their own negative (HA!) reasons for not looking forward to spending money on a product that is well past its best-before date.

I have no intention of following this fad or trend or whatever it turns out to be.

But I realize that that's just me...
