Congratulations, the R5 is an amazing camera! 😊 Your original Canon lenses will work at least as well on the R5 compared to any EF mount camera.

Particularly 2 of your listed lenses I use very often:

EF 50 1.4: works fine. Still, I don't like it. Autofocus isn't always spot on, I assume it's the dated focus motor. The only reason I haven't replaced it yet, is that I don't know with what. The RF 50 1.2 would be awesome, but it's quite bulky and very expensive. Currently looking at the RF 35mm 1.8, but not sure how much the wider FOV impacts its usefulness for me. Maybe it will be an EF sigma 50mm, let's see..

EF 135mm f2: works excellent! I loved the results of that lens on my 6D, but consistent focus at f2 was so hard to achieve. On the R5 every single frame is in focus. I love this lens and the results it gives now even more. I once tried it out for a shooting of a very fast dog at 20fps el. shutter. Focus was always slightly lagging behind. Not sure if it was the focus algorithm or the lens motor. So watch out in case you shoot fast action, but again, could also have been just me.

Enjoy your new setup, I'm sure you will not be disappointed!

Thanks, I'll be interested to see how my 50 1.4 works on the R5 and if I have similar focus issues. My copy of the 50 1.4 is very good on my 5D Mark IV. Will look forward to trying it on the R5.

The 135 f2 is hands down my overall favorite lens! When I did a shoot at a rodeo that was indoors with very poor lighting, that 135 wide open was the only lens in my kit that would produce decent results in those conditions.

EF50f1,5 works "normally" - the lens design is rather old...

I feel that my EF100-400L MkII is  focusing faster with R6 than with my quite fast  5DMkIV.

EF35f2 IS is an interesting system with R6 - I have not used it very  much , but it can be good in very low light ... IS+IBIS and f2

I sold my old EF24-105L and bought RF 24-105L and that is  is optically so much better, that old EF lens images look clearly softer.  RF version is one of the best zoom lenses I have ever used - like EF100-400LMkII

EF 24-70IS f4 L does also work well with  both cameras  - now it stays on my 5D
