It does, it's an NMEA formatted log file, with some Canon specific quirks. The catch is that you need the Canon utility to retrieve it from the device. GPSBabel does a good job at converting it to more useful formats, like gpx.

Thank you for telling me that. I  kind of suspected special software was required and did download two files that I thought sounded like they did that but I have never installed or used them.  I have not seen that anyone has claimed the NMEA file has compass data in addition to the position data.  This would be the only advantage for.  My Magellan trackers are convenient because they emulate USB disk drives to transfer files with no special apps on the computer.
