Hello, my Power Shot camera (PowerShot G7 X Mark III) always shows to set the focal length when I switch it on. I have already done a 'reset' several times and now a new software from CANON. It did nothing, the display still appears.

I phoned Canon and they only recommended the new software. The man on the phone didn't really know what he was talking about.

Thank you very much for your help 🙏!!

Hello Mario,

I do not have  the G7X II, but several other Gs. On my G1X III, I can dedicate the lens ring function (your green symbol) to zoom; step wise or conti. This is done in menu/funktionszuweisung, in my case in no 2.

After switch on, Brennw. einst. appears for some seconds. If you change the lens ring function to "none" or ISO or sth. else, this message will not shown.

The strange thing is, that in your case, the message appears also after reset/new software. Default setting should be then without a certain ring function, but not sure.

So try first to look whether there is a ring function "zoom" and take it out. This has to be checked for all modi you use, P, Auto, Tv, Av.  No further idea for the moment.

Regards
