The M6ii and M200 might be the last of it's kind. Maybe the R100 will try and fill both of these cameras spots.

One can say the R* or R** or R*** is the update for the M6II but the many years old much loved EF-M 32mm has no update ? Or the much loved EF-M 22mm ?

This market is getting very small with smartphones being as good as they are.

I have M6m2 with 32mm and I think I would actually prefer small full frame R plus a high quality 50mm lens as a replacement.

RF 50mm f/2 with fancy glass (e.g. APO like) for $1000 would be awesome.

I don't think so. Indeed, it does need "much" to match the EF-M system:
11-22mm, 22mm, 32mm

All these lenses in a comparable size/weight, with a comparable IQ and a comparable price will be almost impossible for RF-s. Why should Canon produce these lenses?
They want to sell RF-lenses, no RF-s.
For Canon the upgrade path will always be RF, not RF-s.

But if you want to change to FF R, no problem, follow that route.

However, here in this forum, most users have fun in using their EF-M camera with EF-M lenses, they don't need RF-s.

EOS M system is dead.

I have always wonder why it is so important for Fuji and FF users to come here all the time and proclaim this? Why is it so important for them to bash the M-system?

I have 3 EOS M bodies and 10ish lenses for EF-M. I have enjoyed the system very much and currently shoot all my youtube content with the M6m2 (despite having R5). But the system is at a dead end and I am curious to which system people will migrate to. I do want a compact system going forward. I imagine that I will keep using the M6m2 for 2-3 years and at that point there will much significantly better options on the market.

The M6m2 has a great sensor but in 5-10 years time there surely will be much better options (e.g. stacked sensor in crop). In 2009 I thought I would never need another camera after I bought the 5Dm2, and now it rarely gets out of the closet.

I really enjoy both systems and I imagine there is a lot of people like me.

I would be shocked if they would release anything new. If anyone is happy what EOS M offers right now, they are in an awesome shape, I think there will be a glut of lightly used cameras on the market for the next decade. I have 3 bodies and 10 lenses but once there is enough RF-S I will make the switch for simplicity.

I think there are two types of crop sensor users (e.g. EOS M):

1.) People who only use crop due to money and/or size.

2.) People (like me) who have other better cameras and want something smaller for special purposes (usually travel).

For Group 1 it doesn't matter which brand they buy, Fujifilm is probably the best choice.

I would say the Canon M system is the best choice. No doubt.

For Group 2 it is a little trickier, for example I have the R, R5 and the tri of 2.8 zooms. But I still want a RF-s camera with couple small lenses for travel. It would be great if I could use the giant and heavy FF L zooms if ever needed. Also it is nice to shoot with one brand for since you are used to menus,....

I think adding 22mm and 32mm in RF-S mount would be super easy in RF, use the same optics and put it in a plastic shell.

If you want, you can permanently repeat "M is dead". However, this does not make any other system better.

I have tried two Fuji cameras in the past, my conclusion: No adequate substitute for my M6 and my lenses.

To my mind, you have forgotten a third group of users:
3.) People who are convinced that EOS-M is the "sweet spot" with regard to IQ, size, weight, handling, UI, color rendering, costs and fun in general.

I am sure that a change to FF (for me) would not result in better photos. I had more weight, more size, more costs, less transportability and probably less fun.

And it would probably stay at home most of the time.

But I could proclaim that "I am shooting FF".

Yes. That you could do.

And you could go to other forums and brag in almost every post about your large and expensive lenses and camera(s). (As if it makes you a better person and photographer.)
