  1. Nikon. The Z7 was totally without problems, like the Panasonic. Another handling of bright lights though, where they had a sharp halo destroying resolution of bright text. The Z6 was very bad, verry erratic image when turning around. And when I told that to the guy behind the counter he looked at it and confirmed it. He then did a general reset of the camera. And then it was OK, but not as good as Z7. Strange.

The Z6 problems sound to me like you observed the IBIS at work. In normal mode, it can't cope well with panning - when you move the camera, it tries to compensate to keep the image stable, and so jerks when panning. It might have been exaggerated by the darker lens.

Z7 has IBIS too.

I'm aware of that - it's my primary camera I assume it was off or in a different mode on the Z7. Like on the Z6 after the general reset.

I'm assuming this wouldn't be an issue with EVFs if you turn IBIS off while panning??

Or better. Switch over to "sport mode" on IBIS.

Isn't there an automatic mode for SR as with Pentax ?

I'm not sure it would work well on a camera where you have a stabilized viewfinder. It will probably lead to some jerky movement in the viewfinder before it has detected panning motion. In this case it is probably better to manually select sport mode to make it easier to follow a moving target.

Yes, it is possible that it is IBIS. I guess not, but it is possible. I am not sure really what it is and how it is mitigated. The only hot track I have is that the EVF is locket to the exposure time. And then having variable shutterspeed would be the culprit. But, it is not 100%.

I only know two things now.

  1. There are problems with EVF that I do NOT have under control.
  2. I am glad that I have an OVF
