The overheating thing is overhyped. It's not an issue in any real-world use case unless you do 10-15 minute-long video recordings . I've shot with my X100V through multiple batteries in 35C weather. Taken it out into the desert and shot in direct sun loads of times. Not once have I had an overheating warning or shut down. The area behind your thumb just gets a little warm. My guess is since the V is weather-sealed heat dissipation isn't as efficient.
