If you haven’t returned it yet, I’d try testing with IS turned off, ES, on a tripod.

My XT5 is performing well, but I have noticed some unusual behavior occasionally. That is, focusing in AF-S mode using the half press of the shutter button, the focus appears dead on until the split second before shutter release. In that split second I can see the image shift slightly, and the final results of the image are exactly what I witnessed in the viewfinder.

This mostly happens with my Tamron 18-300, and I suspect it has something to do with OIS or IBIS, but I’ll make an effort to try other lenses and isolate the cause.

Is it possible that back button focus could be a solution? Probably not, but just one more variable to explore if the shutter button is linked to the problem. You could focus, hesitate for a second, then trip the shutter. Might be just sluggish OIS adjustment.

I could reconfigure for back button focus, but I suspect it won’t replicate. It’s rare that I encounter this problem, but when it does occur, it’s persistent until I reboot. What I haven’t tried is changing lenses without rebooting. I’ll keep poking at it.

Very interesting! Hopefully they can fix with an update. They had an update on the xf16-80 to fix ois blur issues early on. Keep us updated. Thx.
