I think people expect a new cam’s AF, at “default settings,” to be able to achieve focus in standard situations….casual portraits, scenery, etc. Obviously there are more variables at play. But I agree, to expect your new T5 to be able to accurately achieve focus, for example, on fast moving objects without some prerequisite testing and tweaking AND experience, will be frustrating……..especially with a brand new model that will, most likely, be receiving FW updates.
On the other hand, Cam companies may set themselves up for more criticism by hyping their new model’s capabilities. Bottom line, as you said….gotta put in some work to get the best out of your tool.
