The C100 is superior to the 5D as a cinema camera. All EOS cinema camera's use Wide DR as gamma instead of BT.709. The Wide DR gamma gives a somewhat flatter image than the BT.709 gamma. That is the reason why the images of the 5D and in general of all Canon DSLR's and MILC's look more contrasty than those of the C100. The same holds true for the C200 which I use myself for a couple  of years.

The purpose of Wide DR is to avoid clipping of the highlights. See this article:

The contrast of the C100 footage can be easily enhanced in post giving results similar to those of the 5D. Furthermore, the mp4 footage from the C100 and C200 needs some sharpening in post. You cannot compare footage from the C100 and 5D straight out of the camera.
