Isn't it more that people have incredibly high expectations of what a camera should be able to do nowadays? I'm firmly in the MF era, so all of this seems simply like magic.
When one purchases a compact car and expects sports car like performance they are disappointed.
Yes there is a lot of magic in today's camera. Auto exposure still does not work and that's why there is an exposure compensation wheel. Those that expect autofocus to work without sometimes having to control it have false expectations.

2 good points here from both posts. DPR has anointed the X-H2s as the video camera of the year and the 2nd runner up to the photo camera of the year with only the Sony A7RV ahead of it. It is not out of the realm of possibility that people purchasing the concurrently released models of the X-H2 and X-T5 would expect an extremely high level of quality and "polish." Are these unreasonable expectations? Perhaps, but not unreasonable. I will not fault their disappointment. And if they find they are not satisfied, hopefully they will be in a window to return the camera.... or exhibit patience for an inevitable FW to improve, in this case, the AF.
The second is Morris' comment about Auto Exposure. I wrote him this morning coincidentally about my problems 15 years ago with my Dslr's AE and how it missed many times. I recall being miffed at the cams inability to analyze the frame and expose properly. Back then the DR wasn't as good as now so one needed to be a little more cognizant and use the EC wheel or change the metering more often. I adapted.
The AF issue is a little more troubling for some because you most often can't rescue an OOF image. So, if the newer Fuji user wants success....for right now they may need to work a little harder honing their technique for AF. Not ideal, but something that may need to be done.
