Just added an extra item so I have two pages and retested. No fault found. I switched the camera off/on before retesting and changed items on page 1 and page 2 to make sure. All fine.
Thanks Dave,
Interesting.....
If I have 3 items its fine, 2 pages its a problem.
What I have noticed now though is it if it locks, I just wait around 60 seconds then the menu is accessible again. So nothing to do with the EVF as I originally thought.
Seems like its processing in the background.
Hi All, I think I've figured out a better workaround that doesn't involve removing the battery . As Cream17 wrote, it has to do with how many items fill the two "My Menu" pages, but is more specific. If I completely fill up both pages with 16 menu options the camera *will* freeze up sooner or later when navigating around the menus.
But if I delete just ONE item on page two -- keeping 7 instead of 8 (in other words, keeping 15 options in My Menu, rather than 16) my XT-5 no longer freezes. Granted, the navigation is still a bit sluggish when moving between Menu categories but the lockup appears to be solved.

You hit it right on, I found the same thing. When I first got The XT5, I set it up, then did my Menu set up. After filling all the spots, I had a freeze up and couldn't figure out why. I pulled up the battery, pushed it back down and went back to settings.Shortly after it froze again.Did the battery again. Later I removed one of My Menu items that I didn't need to install and closed the camera off for the night, not putting another item in its place. Next night I had forgot to replace the one item in MY Menu and went about messing with my new camera. I went on for 3 nights (with no freezing), never thought about it. Then I remembered I had an empty spot and inserted my final item. Shortly after it froze again. I sat back and put two and two together and removed the last item. It has not frozen since.
