It would be even better if they designed an AF system that a) actually works and b) doesn’t require a PhD to set up. So basically do what the competition has been doing for years.

Years as in the end of 2021 for Sony and mid 2020 for Canon? Because the X-H2S outperforms anything that came before those two within their price range ie. the A7III and the EOS R.
