There's popular and there's popular ...

So I saw a post on Reddit's camera marketplace today where someone was selling their Sony A7RIII for an X100V, which is just absurd.

Why?

You read posts here all the time about people making drastic changes for one reason or another. At the same time, there are plenty of people buying ILCs, upgrading ILCs, moving to FF, etc.

Now, if there was some mass movement and hordes of people were unloading their FF ILCs in droves to migrate to the X100V, then that might be absurd, because ILCs exist to meet a much wider variety of needs than something like the X100V. But I don't see anything of the sort. Just the odd anecdote.

I don't (and won't) have Tik Tok on my phone - it baffles me why anyone wastes their time watching influencers to begin with, but people do ... so I have no idea what influencer(s) might be out there promoting the X100V and how long they've been doing so, but it's been out of stock for a while, I believe. The 27/2.8 WR lens was largely unavailable for a while, too. All this means is that demand is outstripping supply. The same is true of some high end FF gear (flagship bodies and long teles) but that doesn't mean everyone on the block owns one. Maybe one X100V is sold for every 100 ILCs, but Fuji is having a hard time producing enough to keep them in stock.
