I tend to agree, but let’s see what Fujifilm can do to improve things via firmware updates.
I’ve been fairly successful covering events like festivals with my X-T2, but then, I was shooting for myself (with the intent to sell some photos later), not for a client with a detailed and specific brief like those required for corporate events, weddings and such. If I had to cover that kinds of events, I wouldn’t risk it.
But, I have missed far too many great shots over the years due to AF issues with my X-T2, even though I knew better than relying on AF-C, Face detection etc, except in some specific situations. I’m sure some were down to user error, but I’m also sure some weren’t.
So now that the time has come to invest a couple of thousands in a new body, I don’t think I can do if AF problems are still going to get in my way.
Frankly you have no idea how good modern Fuji bodies are. You grasp onto all the negatives and repeat them with no first hand knowledge. Purchase a camera from a place that will let you return if you are not happy or rent and then let us know what you think. I believe you will be pleasantly surprised.

You seem to have a really good grasp on what other people know and can do. Obviously we’re not all as gifted and are not worthy, so this will be my last interaction with you.
Oh, and in most of Europe you can’t return a 2,000€ camera just because you’re not “happy” with it. There are also far fewer options to rent gear outside the Canikon systems. But I suppose you already knew that in your omniscient wisdom and it was just a momentary lapse.
This is absolutely NOT CORRECT:
Since about ten years already in the European Union you can return anything you buy online during 2 weeks WITHOUT even one word about your reason for return and you get back your money.
That is simply European Law.
So - your financial risk is at zero.
But perhaps your knowledge about Fuji X Cameras and their Pros and Cons is as bad as your knowledge about European Law...
I own now a H2 for a short time - and what I realized already is that about 95% of the YouTubers have no clue about basic and far less about advanced configuration of the new XH2(s) and XT5 cameras.
Yes, these cameras are a new generation with a lot of different options and a new type of firmware. I had some (about 3%) missed shots as well even in S-AF with eye/face detection and admit that I did not really understand why I had in a single-shot series of a person absolutely sharp frames, then 4 shots which were absolutely not sharp anywhere (!) and then absolutely sharp shots again. I don't understand why, but....
But the percentage of sharp shots of the eyes (96%) in bad light conditions and with nearly all People wearing glasses have been much better and much easier done than with other Fuji cameras ( being the last one a XT4) before.
I am still not familiar with the very complex customization of all of the AF/Detection features. So, I still think most of the little problem will be simply User (=my) error. Configuration is not done in one day, it is more like a process of the User getting more and more familiar with this new camera over a certain period.
And some default settings (i.e. MF/AF mode "on" and "Focus priority "OFF" ) are not well done by Fujifilm.
Regarding the impressing history of Fujifilm to deliver rapidly Firmware-Updates for bugs and for continuous improvement of their products (even for very old ones) I am optimistic that they will soon stop problems that are REALLY caused by their products and not just by User errors.
BUT: I admit that Fujifilm should start at least now to explain the very complex AF/detection System much better than they do now to prevent unnecessary problems with their reputation.
AND: Dont forget that Cameras with easier to use and better AF cost at least DOUBLE the price or even three times of a XT5/XH2/XH2s (!) - not to speak about the price for lenses....
Although these cameras have not all the wonderful film simulations, don't have a jpg-engine on par with the leading jpg OOC of the Fuji X cameras, ....... and so on.
