Owners of Oly 12-45 f/4 Pro: is my lens defective?

Hey, I just got one of these lenses. After some testing, it appears ok but there is something that worries me, and I was wondering if someone could test this for me.

I know this lens is focus by wire. If I switch this lens to full time manual focus (using the M on the AF switch on my G9) and turn the focus ring, the lens focuses fine. However, as it is focusing, if I put my ear right up to it, I can hear it make a repeating low-pitch "clicking" sound, the frequency of which is proportional to how fast I am turning the ring.

Some notes:

  1. Lens does not make the sound when it it focusing in autofocus
  2. My Olympus 40-150 f/4-5.6 does not make this sound when turning the focus ring in manual mode. It is essentially silent and I know this is also a focus by wire lens

Can someone with this lens test this out for me and tell me if theirs makes a soft click (it's not a sharp click but a little soft p p p p p p p ....)???

Thanks so much!
