Mars Almost Kissing the Moon -- Just Before Occultation Tonight

Hello everyone,

Not my usual kind of photography but a friend informed me Mars was going to be hiding behind the moon for an hour beginning 6:30PM PST. I thought I would just watch through my binoculars but what the hey! Got out the 100-400 even though I have yet to use it on the H2....set up the tripod and shot away. I DISLIKE full moon photos because one does not get very good detail but tonight there was no choice.

If you blow up the photo (crop) on your screen (Original size) you will see the itty-bitty red planet almost touching the moon on the lower left....about the 7 to 8 o'clock position. Again not my type of photography but I had nothing better to do for 30 minutes. 😁

BTW 1/80s because that was the shortest possible shutter to properly expose Mars.  Also Electronic shutter, 10s delay.
