My Pentax f4 likes f4 just fine, I prefer having a slightly wider DOF, and with reliable high ISO I don't have any issues capturing performances for myself and my clients. The really dark places are usually smaller clubs where a long tele doesn't work anyway and where an f1.4 prime is the best tool for the job.

Since your comments indicate that you have all these lenses and seem to favor Sigma or Tamron, how does their their output - the character of the RAW files in color and micro-contrast - compare with the excellent DA* 60-250 optics? Setting aside the one-stop difference in max aperture which I do not need, do you believe that the Tamron or Sigma output is better?
