DeepPrime XD takes quite a lot longer to process an image, even with a fast graphics card.

As I also have Topaz DeNoise AI and Sharpen AI, I am pretty sure I can produce as good a result when/if it really matters (for a large print), albeit by having to use additional tools.

For what it's worth (and with apologies to the OP for slightly taking the thread off-piste), I'm just processing some (R7) raw files from this morning.

The same 5 files exported from DxO PL 6 E to Lr C as DNG files takes 31s (6.2s each) with DeepPRIME vs 1m 18s (26s each) with DeepPRIME XD.

I'm still evaluating what benefits/ negatives arise from XD and when to use it for best effect. I also have the full suite of Topaz Labs apps and regularly weave them into my workflow.

I agree with the feedback so far - XD is generally providing slightly better NR with a little more detail plus a tad more sharpness in the detail, at the expense of more time spent.

primeXD also introduces stipple artefacts, especially used with the new 'wide gamut' colourspace. And if you're on a Mac, you get a purple cast for free: https://feedback.dxo.com/t/deepprime-xd-introduces-purple-overlay-chromatic-aberration/29191/73

Hi koenkooi,

I've read about the potential for XD artefacts (and some advice around avoiding them), but haven't noticed anything obvious with our Canon (R5, R7 and 7DII), or Sony (RX10 IV and RX100 VI) raw files (yet). I tend to use XD when there may actually be some 'extra detail' to be eked out of a file (and currently compare it to the standard DeepPRIME and Topaz apps).

I'm still gathering speed on processing our R7 files while assessing PhotoLab Elite v6 (DxO have just released v6.1 for Mac btw)/ DeepPrime XD - and dipping into Topaz Photo AI. I can't say I've noticed 'a purple cast' with any of our post DxO images, though I don't tend to over-pop things in PL, generally using it for the initial light touch processing.

(I'll revisit recent images in light of your comments though - so cheers for the heads-up  ).

I use Adobe, DxO and Topaz software - each has strengths and weaknesses.

Phil
