Frankly you have no idea how good modern Fuji bodies are.

I tend to agree, but let’s see what Fujifilm can do to improve things via firmware updates.

I’ve been fairly successful covering events like festivals with my X-T2, but then, I was shooting for myself (with the intent to sell some photos later), not for a client with a detailed and specific brief like those required for corporate events, weddings and such. If I had to cover that kinds of events, I wouldn’t risk it.

But, I have missed far too many great shots over the years due to AF issues with my X-T2, even though I knew better than relying on AF-C, Face detection etc, except in some specific situations. I’m sure some were down to user error, but I’m also sure some weren’t.

So now that the time has come to invest a couple of thousands in a new body, I don’t think I can do if AF problems are still going to get in my way.

Frankly you have no idea how good modern Fuji bodies are.  You grasp onto all the negatives and repeat them with no first hand knowledge.  Purchase a camera from a place that will let you return if you are not happy or rent and then let us know what you think.  I believe you will be pleasantly surprised.
