Just upgraded from 5D mark IV to the R6 my ii. Took it out for a spin with my Tamron 150-600 and converter and experienced the same thing! It loses focus while still looking at an object. It also seemed to have trouble focusing on birds in trees with thick limbs but also those with few branches. Was trying to capture a barred owl in an area with some thick foliag, it would not focus, ran to the car and got my 5D that locked in immediately. Help!!

Unfortunately it is what it is. Like the Sigma you could limit it to a 7m minimum focus distance which would reduce the pulsing. It does better for sudden action like flying birds including eagles, gulls as well as large mammals.
