Windows 10 - Problem Ejecting USB Mass Storage Device

Each day, after completing my backups to a a disk mounted in a docking station serviced via USB, I like to "eject" the docking station to ensure the disks are not available to any malware that might infect my PC. It is becoming increasing difficult to get Windows to release the drives.

error message when attempting to eject the media

I have closed off all applications and windows, but still I get this message. I usually wait a few minutes and try again, but no luck. How can I determine what program/application might be holding onto the media and preventing the eject? Would it be something like Norton 360?

I am worried now that when I shutdown Windows (as I do each evening) that the media may not dismount correctly and possibly corrupt my recent backups.

Thanks,
Peter
