It had a brilliant and unique sensor in the original vintage Foveon, lost much of that quality in the Merrill by sacrificing colour in pushing resolution. Realized that the colour was wretched in the Merrills, so pushed colour in the Quattro- causing over saturation and simplified colour. Then, abandoned their brilliant and unique sensor altogether, and followed the crowd- unsuccessfully.

How is making the smallest full-frame camera in the World following the crowd?

BTW, the Sigma camera company is NOT a failure. They keep making cameras that sell. The fp probably sold better than any other Sigma camera ever. The fp L doesn't sell as well because it's so expensive, of course, but it still sells, so that isn't a failure either. As long as they survive, the Sigma camera company is not a failure. I have to admit that they can't call themselves a great success either though, unfortunately. Still . . . I hope Sigma doesn't give up on cameras, and keeps making them. I like them, though I have only owned three. I look forward to the full-frame version of their three-layer sensor, and whatever camera(s) they put it into. I plan to buy one, because it's a unique camera, if for nothing else.
